2018 Goldman Sachs IBD Hong Kong Summer Analyst Final Round (2017.11.25)

Hi guys anybody attended last Saturday's superday for GS 2018 HK IBD SA?

Heard it would be 6 offerees out of 23 Superday candidates. When did you guys get the feedback? Has been 5 days and no feedback. Heard a MIT kid got the offer?

Thanks.

I got typical automatic rejection letter from GS HK last year after superday. Based on my own experience and what I heard, offers usually come out within 1-2 days, otherwise you are on WL. Good luck.

I found it very weird that non of my interviewers was an MD... I was seriously thinking that they may have filled most of the spots during their NY superday and just to conduct interviews in HK to finish the process for those who weren't able to make it to NY.

Got my generic rejection email on Feb 18th for the HK office. Im curious to know how many people got offers from that super day in NYC. From what i recall , there were 6 of us ? I've been in contact with 2 others, so none of us 3 have gotten offers.

I heard a rumour that most of the offers were given to the HK locals. Can any1 confirm this?

Tough life :( I am still offer-less ...

Not true. Had a superday in NY for the HK office, got an offer (but chose somewhere else). There's no way there were 6 people. Remember the superday isn't just held for 1 time slot/day, so there were probably 20-30 ppl that interviewed at least.

Just curious, when you interview at GS, are you interviewing at product/industry groups in particular? some pompous bitch at my school keeps talking about her 2nd round M&A interview coming up, and i'm guessing shes full of shit (she has no credibility)

you speak Chinese? you might get part of your interview in chinese, especially if you said you were fluent on your resume. Goldman is notorious in putting kid on the spot. Both my friend and I had interviewers who, mid-way through, started speaking in French.

It'll be the same as other BB's in that if you were a finance/account major or did an internship and stuff, you'll be asked questions on that. I'm surprised it's only 2 hours. Maybe it's 2 hours for the first part and if you're asked back for the afternoon, you'll do that. From what I recall, that's how they structured the Superdays at GS.

@Waltersobchek

No, I am not interviewing for a particular product/industry group. To my knowledge, analysts in Hong Kong are generalists.

@HerSerendipity

I do not speak Chinese at all. 2 hours thing is a little new to me. Anyways, lets us see. Thank you.

You must have had an angel for a first round interview. I had a Wharton MBA.

20 minute casual interview about my career aspirations? F*ck that, it was 34 minutes of mostly technical questions!

The guy I interviewed with would randomly ask me to answer the question in Chinese. He asked me all these IPO questions and region specific technical questions about Chinese market returns and betas used in DCF. I knew the answers, but I used a lot of English for technical vocab.

I guess I did well enough though. See you on Sunday. And yes, I think we'll just be meeting with people from Asia so 2 hours is not long at all. Seriously, I've had a phone interview that lasted an hour, 2 hours is nothing.

Any one going to Goldman Sachs HK IBD SA SuperDay in NY?

Seems like its going to be 3 back to back interviews.

Also, do they have interviews on both Sat and Sun?

I'll be going this weekend. Yes, some folks are interviewing on Sunday.

I hope theres someone who went through this interview in the past would share their experience with this interview.

Hey sorry to bother, I know this thread is from a year ago but I'm wondering how many batches of hirevues were there last year for GS IB HK? And how many superdays were there in total? Would greatly appreciate an answer as I still haven't received a hirevue invite for 2019 SA and am concerned about being dinged already

waited for 30 minutes while my three interviewers discussed a bit. then one of my interviewers came and told me. Great bunch of guys to talk to.

Congrats again! Must've been the longest 30 min you waited.

My biggest concern is that all my 3 interviews were very short. None of them lasted more than 15 min, then I had to ask them questions....

my first two were very technical (lbo walk through, proforma balance sheets, accounting) which was expected since i did ib last summer. last one with MD was just to test my chinese which ended with him telling me to read chinese news everyday for 30 minutes.

The VP and MD tested my Chinese. I'm a native Canto speaker and not a mando speaker. They still tested my Mando. The VP asked if I could read Chinese classic novels..... :(

akwade, how long were your interviews?

I was slotted into random time slots in between mba interviews. One of my interviews was done outside a conference room on a pair of couches...

I'd say 25-30min, everytime the HR lady had to come to tell us to finish.
