Goldman Sachs Using "Robo-Recruiters"
Recently came across this article discussing how GS is moving to a computer-based model for recruiting undergrads. Curious to get some opinions on what it means for applicants, especially people from non-traditional backgrounds.
Not sure how resumes stand-out when your background is in no-name brand experience and other stuff that is interesting only if one digs deeper into it. Also, generally distrustful of what a "grit search" component looks like.
Anyone have thoughts?
Goldman snubs campus interviews to introduce robo-recruiting. (Originally Posted: 06/29/2016)
Yes you read that right. Starting with next year's class, Goldman will employ a new robot recruiting system for it's undergrad prospects. The whole purpose, according to them, is to remove the common traits and interests that the recruiter and the graduate might share, and instead hire people who are more "consistently talented" rather than just talking about the good ol days of school and getting in.
While this move may be well intentioned in the sense that it gives equal opportunity to graduates from all schools, it does away with what we've come to recognize as an integral part of getting into finance: networking. The new process not only removes humans from the first interaction, it also introduces a new automated system to go through resumes which extracts personality traits from the resumes. According to the article:
"The firm also will use a technology-based resume screening tool to try and identify traits such as grit, or life circumstances, that executives believe will better predict career success and longevity."
The MBA hiring process remains the same, although Goldman said it plans to automate the whole process soon. So what do you guys think? Good news or the end of the world as we know it?
Pretty old news bruh.
Damn it! Is there already a post on this?
