Good hedge fund, bad PM
Guys, am welcoming advice from anyone who may have been in a similar situation at a hedge fund. Joined 9-10 months ago at a very good shop. Working with a single PM only who is basically not mentoring at all and treats me like ... bottom line: I consider investing a long-term career, just working with the wrong PM it seems. What would you do? Appreciate it.
Could you elaborate on how he treats you? Like he just ignores you or actually treats you like shit...
Wouldn't make a difference, but a mix of both. Anyone who has been in similar situation at a fund let me know how you coped with it.
Learn what you can from your PM, but try to get to know/work with/learn from the other people at the firm that are presumably the reason you're calling it a good shop. Try to transfer/change the reporting structure if you can. If it's a single-manager shop or not the kind of place that enables you to get to know anyone outside your pod, maybe it's not so great after all. Look for another job.
Thanks. What if the PM is the only person one works with? I am hesitant interviewing elsewhere given the small size of the industry. Everyone seems to know everyone. Is there a minimum period of time to stay?
