good looking female analysts in i-banking.
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering how good looking female analysts are treated in your divisions , I mean 8-10s in the outside world :P do they really get preferential treatment and date their MDs? are all other women pretty much screwed?
I think the hot ones are the ones that get screwed
lol funny , I definitely dont want to sound like the bitter ugly fat chick but until now it seems like the really beautiful women get an unfair advantage and I am afraid that with the long hours in IB I wont look any better than I look now which is just cute
Drop dead gorgeous women always were and always will be treated differently.
IMO every hot woman (9/10) is fucked in the head. Who wouldn't be? Imagine knowing since the age of 14 that every male you meet wants to have sex with you. I've yet to meet a normal smokingly hot female. I am sure she exists somewhere, just have to find her...

Thats a really simple but excellent reason to why all girls are nuts. I have never thought of that, so I thank you, because so many things now make sense to me.
froufrou: drop dead gorgeous women dont work in finance. wtf are you smoking or rarely. that one time the blonde model interned at jpm...look how much harassment she got. not always a good thing
phantom: agree.. the 8+ ones tend to be a little crazier than average. one of the worst qualities that screw with womens productivity imo is the 'hot girl syndrome'. and well, a 8 in the outside world is equivalent to 10+ in the finance world....terrible awful; reinforcement worsens over time.
i interned with this chick (no offense like a 7-8 best) who totally had this in her head ... too-short skirts, blouse gaping hole, "i'm going to flirt to xyz [xyz = a internmanager, with track record of preying interns] because i want to get the full time offer with my looks"
well she ended up doing pretty average-to-terrible work and is no longer in the industry.
Stop bitching that guys don't bend over as far backwards for you than they do for a hotter girl. Even if you are merely cute you've got more handed to you in your life than any average looking girl and basically all guys. If you're a first year that means you're 22 or so, so like all females you've only got a few years max until you start declining in looks. Maybe you're already on the decline. Your worries there are valid.

If you are hot, stupid and sleeping with the MD then you will keep your job, but everyone you work with will hate you. If you are cute, but do your work you will be well liked and left alone. Over the long term I think it is better to be competent than hot.
Can't speak to banking specifically, but my personal experience in consulting and hedge fund indicates ABSOLUTELY YES. It's a disappointing fact, but this is the world we live in. The difficult part, though, is that if you even remotely come off as if you're trying to use your attractiveness to your career advantage, the women around you will resent you, and the men around you won't take you seriously. It's a very delicate balance, and a bit of a crappy situation. But again, I don't think this is necessarily unique to finance/consulting (might be worse given the competitiveness of the industries, but I've certainly heard friends in medicine and law telling me similar things).
Photos, or you're a troll.
BTW, for those wondering why women don't have any brains, it's because they don't have dicks to keep them in.
Well played. Banana for you.
I am not a troll but i guess my post didnt come off very clearly, i was mentioning i am sick of good looking women just having everything handed to them while I have to work my ass off since i am just cute and not supermodel, and wondering if the same went for i-banking
i know whatchu mean... re: 'sick of good looking women just having everything handed to them' that may be the difference between being hot in college (i.e. free homework answers from boys) vs. cute ..but usually doesnt fly that way nearly as much in finance. by that i don't mean you no longer get boys to do your work, i'm just saying being 'just cute' is enough to cut it. after several hours in the office men (and women) become more single-track-minded if you know what i mean..
Sheer brilliance, best statement I've seen in a long long time.
To be honest, I've never seen "supermodel" types in banking, most of them would probably be classified as cute/good looking, not smoking hot.
I've seen plenty of smoking hot ones but they generally leave quite quickly or get promoted quickly .... unless ur MD likes dudes
how many girls are in the typical incoming analyst class? so far at the superdays (ibd) ive been to its been around 1 or 2 girls for every 10 guys
