Good opportunity to enter MBB later?

Hello,

I have an MBA and have been in consulting for 10+ years with a focus on IT and management consulting. While I am in the process of applying to MBB and tier 2, I was recently approached by my client for a potential opportunity which is very different than what I was aiming for. I am assessing this opportunity but could definitely use some advice / suggestions.

Opportunity: It has 3 aspects -

(a) I would be responsible for overseeing implementation of any acquisitions that take place at my client. The client is very much a tech-focused company so integration will likely be along those lines vs. having multiple products/services or business units that need to be integrated. While my job is to oversee, I am ultimately responsible and hence, may need to do a bit of low-level work.
(b) Some point in the future, I MAY be involved in deal assessment
(c) During lull times, I would be doing internal consulting

This opportunity would require me to leave consulting and enter industry. Positives are that I can deepen my industry knowledge and acquire program management and managerial skills.

If I do the above opportunity for 2-3 years, how does this place me for MBB (non-implementation focused role)? I know this would translate well to Big 4 (Accenture, PwC, Deloitte) who have Merger Integration Implementation service offering which is NOT what I want to do long-term.

I appreciate your advice and thoughts.

Thank you.
