Graduating in three years - advisable?
Hey all…
I am debating whether I should graduate college early. I study econ at UChicago and can easily graduate in three years without taking a full course-load during some quarters - this includes taking classes at Chicago Booth. College is expensive and I'd rather not stay longer than I have to, but I wouldn't mind staying another quarter if it's absolutely necessary.
Experience-wise, I will have two summers of boutique IB experience by sophomore year. I'll be applying for sophomore year programs at the BBs (however, I'm not a diversity candidate). I would like to get a top MBA and work in PE eventually. Is graduating early advisable in this case? My concern is not being able to get a BB SA (and therefore FT) position, since I'd have to start recruiting earlier, which would hurt me in the long-run. Thoughts?
Thanks everyone.
What's your GPA like?
If you have gone through boutique interviews before, you probably know what banking interviews are generally like, so you should be able to perform well. I would just recruit as a junior in that case....if you plan on graduating early. As long as your gpa is 3.5+ you should be able to get interviews with the experience you have
Well you don't have to answer that question just know. If you get an offer you like then take it. If not stay for an extra quarter and apply to more jobs. I fourth year was really easy. I had enough credit to graduate but I basically good easy A classes and drank every night. You are only in college once (until you go to b school that is).
Recruit for SA positions and if you can't snag one then come back for a fourth year. Most firms could care less what you do the year leading up to FT after accepting an offer.
