Put GRE general test score on resume or not?
Hi All:
I just finished my second year of bachelor, wanna apply for a FO summer analyst internship hopefully in any of the BBs in APAC. I am preparing GRE general test recently. If fortunately I get a good result in GRE, should I put it on my resume for the application of next year's internship or not?
If put it on, it could partially illustrate my analytical skills and so on. However, will the HR feel like I'm gonna go to graduate school after graduation anyway so disregard my application? Since I was told that for year 3 summer analyst program the banks prefer those who wanna start career right away after graduation. Anyway I will prepare the test with all my effort, but I'll really appreciate it if seniors here could give me some of your opinions. Thank U very much :) !
I think you are over analysing. There is a higher probability that HR will miss your resume (simply because there are too many applicants) rather than think that you are not in the company for the long haul. Anyway, go ace it and put the score there. All the best!
Thank you very much!

Should I put an 800Q GRE score on my resume or is GMAT the only one worth while?
Put it on there. At least consulting firms are interested in any data point that shows that you are in possession of a brain, which you obviously are :)
Why would you take the GRE in you sophmore year?
GRE Scores on Resume for Consultant jobs? (Originally Posted: 04/04/2014)
Hey all,
I have been looking to apply to consulting jobs and I was wondering if writing my GRE scores on my resume for these jobs is OK. I am looking at Deloitte, KPMG, MBB, etc. I scored a 166 V and 166 Q, FYI. I am also a recent college graduate (less than a year), currently working in sales.
Thanks in advance!
BB sales?
anyway, i would recommend you just add a single score, like this GRE: 166 (98th Percentile)
no need to list the V/Q breakdown- if they ask, then answer otherwise it'll get a little bit too cluttered also, shooting you a PM
GRE Scores on Resume? (Originally Posted: 04/10/2014)
Hello,
I have asked around in other forums and would like to ask here too:
I recently scored a 166 V (96th percentile) and 166 Q (93th percentile) in my GRE and would like to know if it is a good idea to list those scores on my resume to apply for finance and consulting positions?
Any comments or insights are really appreciated
No. What's more important than your gre scores is your fit and rationale for why you want to go into the industry and why each firm. The fact that you're looking at both finance and consulting shows that you need to figure that out.
Scores on resumes are common in consulting and finance, less so in other industries. Just keep it compact in your 'education' section.
Listing GRE scores on resume - Yay or Nay? (Originally Posted: 03/26/2014)
Hi all,
I recently took the GRE and scored a 166 V (96 pth); 166 Q (93 pth); 4.0 AWA (54 pth).
I have some questions:
1) I would like to know how is listing GRE scores on resumes viewed? I am interested into breaking into finance, preferably IB but would settle for a something lesser if I can't get a position.
2) What is more important for hiring managers GPA or Standardized Test Scores? I have a middle off-the road 3.54 GPA in Actuarial Science (quantitative intensive field).
What were you planning to go to grad school for?
Took the GRE because I was unemployed for some months and wanted something to fill in the time. Might be going to b-school after a few years. So, should I put my GRE score on my resume to apply for finance jobs or not?
plenty of people put their GMATS, can't hurt.
Thanks. Need more opinions please! How is GRE viewed vs GMAT if listed on resume?
Listing GRE scores on resume?! (Originally Posted: 03/21/2014)
Hey all,
I recently took the GRE and scored a 166 Q (93 pth) and a 166 V (96 pth). I am currently less than a year out of school so I am not thinking about going to b-school yet. My question is: Would it be counterproductive to list those scores in my resume? I have middle of the road 3.5 GPA, and so far I haven't had much luck breaking into finance (ib would be ideal, but I would settle with something lower if I can't get a position). How is this viewed by hiring managers (if any of you are or were hiring managers, I would appreciate your insight here).
Thanks WSO!
First off, congratulations on the great scores!
How this is viewed will be largely dependent on the industry. So for banking and consulting, it is more common and even welcome, especially at the analyst/associate level. F500 rotational program or non-profit? It could come off as pompous.
Well a job is better than no job. If you've been out of school for a year without a job, BIG RED FLAG! I would forget about IB for now and get into a financial analyst role somewhere.
@"Blueapple" Thanks! Do you really think it will come off as show-offish for certain roles? @"jojome" I am currently working in sales, and as I mentioned, I would settle with something less than ib, should I list my GRE for financial analyst jobs?
