Guidance
Hello everyone, I've regularly browsed these forums but have not been actively involved and would be appreciative of some guidance.
Background: I just finished my freshman year at the University of Florida. I only applied to Florida State University, Penn State, University of Florida, and the United States Naval Academy and was accepted to all. After my stint at the Academy when I realized the military wasn't my cup of tea I transferred to UF and here I am.
I truly am not sure what decision to make that determines where I will end up. I feel as though an finance degree from UF is basically worthless, sure I could land a decent job but that seems to be the extent of it, and if I enter a career I'll aspire to be the one of best that there is and not feel limited due to undergrad attendance. UF has a fantastic accounting program however aside from partner and rather dull work there's not much to it. I'm considering the finance major, working for a few years, and shooting for a top MBA. I have the determination and willpower to do so, however if my chances are futile following through with such a decision is ignorant. I'm at a crossroads in a conflict of undergrad majors, what to do in the near future, and what to shoot for in the long run and am basically seeking educated advice because I would prefer to make a decision soon as adhere to it. Apply for transfer? Keep GPA high and get involved? I have no idea.
Thank you for reading my first post and I appreciate any help.
I would do the 5 year BS/MSF. It has amazing placement for a Florida school.
Ok, thanks, that's what I figured. What options exactly do you think I can expect of getting once I finish my masters if I keep GPA high and network and go for credible internships?
You can work for Evercore in NYC. Anything is possible. You have a wealth of information on placement and can see the resumes that secured those positions. They just stopped accepting students from other schools for their MSF so they could focus on getting 100% placement because of the great internships UF undergrads get. I would just talk to one of your advisors about your interest in the 5 year program so you can get the ball rolling and put it on your resume. Good luck!
Thanks for the replies. After research I think I am going to just receive my bachelors in finance from UF, land a few solid internships along the way, work for a few years and really shoot for a top MBA.
Thanks!
