Hamilton College

How much of a non target is Hamilton College? Would it be better to attend Hamilton and major in Econ or the University of Pittsburgh/Purdue/University of Connecticut (basically a generic state school) with a business major?

Are you limited to these schools because of financial aid or are you just throwing out names? If its not related to financial aid/scholarships, I suggest you look into schools that cost the same, but give you more bang for your buck. To answer your initial question, I know one person that went to Hamilton and they are an incredibly small school, the career services is not very established as other schools.

As a current Hamilton Junior, I can tell you that Hamilton has one of more established career center's amongst all the NESCAC schools. While it obviously would never have the resources that a school like Wharton would have, one gets extremely personalized career attention, especially for finance. They recently hired a new career advisor who had worked in finance for well over a decade and said advisor now works solely with students pursuing careers in finance and consulting.

Hamilton has strong ties to some of the BB and kids every single year end up at GS, MS etc. If you're smart, get good grades, and go to the career center you are almost guaranteed first rounds to any place that has Hamilton alum.
