Single Location M&A Firms for Internship

WSO, I'm a junior at a Connecticut state school looking for an informal . I'm wondering if anyone on here is from the Hartford, Ct area with any experience in IB. I compiled a list of different M&A firms in my area (mostly through databases and checking tenant lists at corporate park lobbies). Most of these firms are 1-3 location offices so that should give me good leverage when pushing for an internship. Also, none of the firms I found recruit at any schools in the area. I'm really just curious if anyone has gone through a similar route of breaking into IB in this area.

Sorry, maybe my question was too specific. To give more background about my situation, the few local boutique/middle-market m&a advisory firms I have sourced, typically have less than 3 offices and are off the grid. Some are neither on the WSO Database nor M&I's page. Based off my research, they do not recruit either, and websites give limited information. Some of the website's don't even list the people at the company, preventing me from emailing/calling influential individuals directly. I prefer avoiding the info @blank . com emails to inquire internship information. Since these firms are extremely local (10-15 mins away max) I have gotten the advice from a few older successful folks to just "show up" looking like I belong in the job. I was given advice to simply explain how I found them, how I want to pursue IB, and can someone at the firm explain to me or give me advice/contacts for taking further steps. Don't bash me on this because this is simply advice I have gotten from older people who are successful in different industries. One explained to me that emailing and sending resume's is a millennial approach to things and the norm today, and since these firms are small, they may appreciate the direct approach. My alternative plan is to cold call or network my way in. How have some of you in the past dealt with these exclusive m&a firms to attain IB internships? I realize that these firms don't offer rigid programs but I feel like it is my BEST opportunity to embed an eye catching experience on my resume for next summer to get something really worthwhile. All input is greatly appreciated!
