Has anyone heard of VK Capital Group? They claim they're big, but...

Just as the title says, they claim they're big and set up office everywhere, like their website says vkcapitalgroup(dot)com

But I can't find much info. about them. They said they're very "low profile", but I just can't verify them. Can anyone helps? Thanks.

I would be very skeptical - "VK Capital Group Hedge Fund group always outperforms the market and all mutual funds because of our capability of utilizing derivatives, leverage, long and short strategies to manage risks and returns, but Mutual funds cannot use derivatives, short selling strategies and leverage."

Hahah.

LOL. No, mutual funds cannot haha

That's actually a common misconception. Mutual funds can and do use all of those things.

Wow. That's just plain scary. I wonder what the SEC might have to say about claims like that? I know they love the use of phrases like 'always outperforms'.

who knows, the company was registered in like 2010 ? and spread its office even in WALL ST? it is suspicious. there is MD at IDB, who even does not have ibanking background.

thanks for all your replies. well, i found some interesting facts too: that many of their offices listed, let's take Beijing, Singapore and New York for example, are actually on www(dot)regus(dot)com. This company of this website provides temporary office leasing and VIRTUAL OFFICE! and PHONE ANSWERING and MAIL HANDLING!

I suspect almost all of their offices do not really exist but just lease a virtual spot on Regus!

a) No legitimate investment manager says their funds always outperform. In fact most are legally prohibited from doing so.

b) On the other hand, that snowboarding picture on the hedge fund page is pretty rad.

is this just normal that a firm out of nowhere claim they are the "best"?

Well, what still puzzles me is that they're recruiting interns and analyst from universities, and the process is quite strict, 2nd round is to write 2 pitch books, and 3rd round is to write sth else with 50 pages in a group, although none has been recruited at this point yet.

Just don't really understand their purpose.

It is not normal (at least not the way they've gone about it). The whole operation looks very fishy.

Yeah. And i just found another piece of info. their office in Hong Kong (supposedly their "headquarter") as well as London are listed in www(dot)yourofficeagent(dot)com, which again is a "virtual office provider". that reminds me that last time when students had interview, we had it not in their office, but at a starbucks coffee shop in the same building on saturday.

strangely though, the "training" after the interview (but still part of the interview process) took place not in that building, but in their "office" in Shenzhen (a city in mainland china, close to Hong Kong) on saturday. they did mention though, that the document signed be placed at the "reception" titled to certain person (that said they wanted ppl to feel they had an "office"?).

well, does this mean, they actually just have a "virtual office" in their headquarter Hong Kong too? weird

Hi, I also just got the interview from them and are now asked to write 2 pitch books...the previous process is the same, interviewed at IFC starbucks and asked to send a letter to the reception on 19th floor while u cannot get there in the weekend...

Can anyone tell is it a fraud...thx

u r encouraged to do ur own research, i've shared my findings as above. looks that they r still recruiting. but i'd be interested to know whether they have got any one by now.

If anyone actually takes this "investment bank" seriously SEC would be all over them. Does anyone know what they're actually registered under? VK Capital Group doesn't yield anything in Capital IQ, not a good sign. Chop shop?

I knew VK Capital Group, they are really low profile private hedge fund in New York. We already have several clients investing in their Hedge Fund for years, which has been giving us impressive +30% returns every year and their sharpe ratios are always over 10. We have been dealing with their mother company called VK Global Asset Management Inc, then I heard that they set up new offices in Hong Kong named VK Capital Group.

Vincy Lu, by now when I'm commenting, you've been a member here for 21 hours, and when did you write this comment?

I saw the post that you were attacking one of our valuable business partners, you made me reply and clarify this to my clients who have invested in VK. And I would like to give you some personal advice that you should stop your attitude young man. I don't know why you are so pissed about the company, or you were rejected by them, your online action can be tracked and you could end up being sued if you decide to continue to spread comments like this in any open discussion groups.
