Have M.s in RE, should I go for MBA?
I graduated a few years ago with a Masters in Real Estate. I spent a year in valuation running Argus and DCF models and writing reports for major institutions (Wells Fargo, AIG, etc). I relocated to another city and have spent the past 3 months as a Credit Analyst for a pseduo cmbs lender, underwriting all types of commercial loans and .
My question is basically...should I pursue an MBA? It would be a part time program so I could keep working. And by the time I'd start next January...I'd have two years of working experience, plus 2 more years when I eventually finish the degree.
I'd like to work for a private equity group or in a similar field. But then again, I would like to learn more about IT and finance (actual TA of stocks, valuing businesses, etc) side of things. I'm just split on whether the cost vs reward of getting an MBA is worth it.
If you're planning on staying in real estate and you have your MRED, then you don't need an MBA. If you're not planning on staying in real estate (which would be weird given that you have an MRED), then you really don't need an MBA unless you can get an employer to pay for it.
+1
Also agree with guys above. Plus unless you are getting an M7 MBA it is ~possibly not worth it provided the great expense economically and away from work.
