Have you started the summer at your M&A boutique yet?

I just started my internship this week, it's a very small boutique. I am very surprised by how little finance is involved and how much more random task/grunt work there is. Has anyone else had this sort of experience? The only financial calculations the firm uses is owner cash flow (OCF), and it is far from any sort of exact science... is this common at boutiques?

That was sort of my experience at the boutique I was at for the past year. I did some financial calculations. But, overall it was mostly just proofing and cleaning up materials that were going to be given to clients and researching strategic and financial acquirers through CapitalIQ.

The real value of the internship came from learning the process of M&A and talking to the principals I worked for.
