You are one and done with that particular headhunter. You may have come across as indecisive or a bit sloppy, so they will not risk placing you in front of their clients, especially when they have other similar candidates in their database. It is far better to network and go direct with your targets, but in the meantime, look for another headhunter you think will go to bat for you.

Headhunters dont go to bat for anyone. Think people hope they do but honestly... I never have. I dont think you are done but may need a little coaching. I have people on paper who rock and it takes a chat to let them know what they need to do better. its a decent investment in my time if I feel I can place them. However , our clients are the ones paying the bills and if they want someone from xyz and you are from xyz but happen to be an idiot. I will coach you up

@monty

I'm an idiot. Can you coach me? Serious question.

I'm just passing time at my current job and want to do something else. My other option is bschool and I really just don't want to go yet. I can stay here for a while, just want to move around a bit.

Get busy living

Who cares if you botched it with one particular headhunter? Market is hot right now and talent especially in the 3-5 year experience range is scarce. If you are any good you will be hired. We have been trying to hire someone in this range for months now and it's been tough. Good candidates getting offers left and right.

This is a total sellers market right now for talented people(sellers being the sellers of service aka employees). You hold a tremendous amount of chips, at least relative to the past.

I myself am not seeking opportunities right now, but if I were, the last thing I'd be worrying about is what one particular headhunter thinks of me. So many spots for so few qualified people right now.

I tend to agree
