Headhunter advice
I'm in a top capital markets group (1st year) at one of the larger balance sheet BBs (think JPM, Citi, BAS), and am finding it already seems time to start contacting / listening to headhunters. Haven't found a great amount of past forums that have addressed the process as a whole. Right now am going in unsure of exactly what I'm looking for, thinking MM PE, HF (maybe distressed debt), and very open to alternative fields, i.e. sports / media agency (to the extent it's decent paying). Obviously with other fields I won't need to be interviewing so far in advance, but in contacting headhunters do I need a better gameplan, and to what extent can headhunters help in alternative industries?
Also welcome any input on perceived chances of aforementioned industries, assume top bucket with good, not great deal experience. Obviously posting under a new name as well.

The process goes: Jan-Mar: Headhunters reach out to figure out your interests etc and setup meetings with you Mar-May: Top PE shops interview for end of second year positions Apr-the end of your second year: Interviews for MM PE, HFs, and other positions
HFs and smaller shops will often give jobs for immediate employment, large PE shops tend to hire for end of second year. If you are interested in alternative employment disclose that to the HHs but you must have a gameplan. They will ask you why you want PE/HF/whatever else, and just like in getting your banking job you have to have a story.
Hope this helps
curious as to why you're leaving
is capital mkts a bad place to be?
sort of sports/media agencies are you talking about? That sounds pretty interesting, and I'd like to know more.
