What is your go-to office snack?

Monkeys, everyone tells you to stick to your meal timings and eat healthy but with work, deadlines and everything, I prefer to have a snack every 3-4 hours. My favourites are nuts and protein bars. What do you eat when you are bored/ hungry at work?

Lmao I stock the freezer with trader joes microwaveable ready made awesome chicken breast and have a few avocados in my desk... this will probably give away who i am.

What concert costs 45 cents? 50 Cent feat. Nickelback.

amazing how much punch two little worlds can have, isn't it? to be fair i sometimes use honey or PB or whipped cream but she is always the main snack.

In offices, hunger is usually a symptom of thirst. People don't drink nearly enough water. Aside lunch and the occasional breakfast, I spend my days downing tea, water, protein shakes, or anything generally made from water and without much caffeine in it. After the morning 3x shot, that is.

@"CorpFinHopeful" try making tuna salad w/canned tuna and the olive oil mayo (no sat fat), mix in some horseradish, salt, pepper, and spices, it's pretty good and keeps for at least a week.

carrots & hummus are good, I do toasted whole wheat bagels a lot w/either nothing or w/peanut butter

oddly enough, I like low fat cheese sticks. yes they have saturated fat and they're processed but it's solid protein & calcium, and it does the job.

cigarettes & coke also curb hunger, just sayin'.

For grazing during the day - bowl of sunflower seeds mixed with raisins or cranberries (although the latter are loaded with fattening sugars).

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

-Mushed up avocado on toast. Throw on some sea salt, pepper and olive oil. If you want more protein, add a poached egg (this could also be a full meal) -Cantaloupe with sriracha (you will thank me later)

The avocado on toast actually sounds pretty good. I'm going to need to try that one.

Bail on the flavored Chobani and switch to the plain. The taste kinda sucks so I add some natural honey to it and it tastes pretty darn good.

Seconded. Plus the flavored stuff has a shitton of sugar in it.

Also, Fage is where it's at, but I'm also a yogurt snob.

Quest bars. Seriously if you haven't tried them, do so now. They're the best tasting protein bars ever and have excellent macronutrients. If I wasn't cutting I would probably eat like 5 at a time...

More meals than snacks, but:

Egg-white omelet with fat-free cheese, tomatoes and spinach. Salsa, bottled or otherwise, adds lots of flavor with very low calories. Lean ham for more protein.

Easy to make, because you can get cartons of egg-whites and fat-free cheese singles. Cut up tomatoes and spinach ahead of time or exclude entirely. Bottled salsa.

Lunch: Skinless, boneless chicken breast. Salsa for flavor. Small quantity of brown rice or quinoa. Substitute steamed broccoli for fewer carbs.

Easy to make because chicken breast can keep for a week refrigerated, and you can make a bunch of these meals Sunday night. Put them in separate containers and you'll have a lunch or snack ready to go.

Peanut butter and Greek yogurt are both fairly high fat, high calorie foods that are not necessarily that rich in nutrients or antioxidants. I am all for fat-free diet yogurt made with Sucralose (not aspartame), but my understanding is that the food label on Chobani shows a lot of calories, many of them from saturated fat and sugar.

I think blueberries, broccoli, strawberries, and carrots are all relatively easy and very healthy snacks. Carrots are probably the easiest to eat at work, followed by blueberries. They fill you up and you have to eat an entire bag of carrots to get much past 150 calories.

One serving (2 tbsp) of natural organic peanut butter is 190 calories...that is not particularly high and enough for a snack. I sometimes eat Greek yogurt as a breakfast but I often eat plain yogurt (Stonyfield Organic Lowfat) with salt/pepper as part of dinner.

I snack on straight almond butter for breakfast and snacks. the uncut stuff. Still got rocks in it. Usually a heaping table spoon or so. My go to for afternoon cravings is fresh fruit. Peaches, berries, bananas, and apples. When I want a full meal, I will throw a few handfuls of berries (often dried) into a cup of Stoneyfield yogurt. Stuff is right.

(this is a shake not a smoothie) - it doesn't taste amazing but it's great to drink.

Blend oatmeal and mix it with two scoops of flavored protein. Mix with water in a shaker, and shake it lol.

Tons of complex carbohydrates, and a great amount of protein. Very healthy and easy to drink. To complete the meal/snack (Depending on your portion sizes), eat a handful of pumpkin seeds for some healthy fats!

Everyone posting here is a "girly man". Not my words, but from a food market review that I was reading recently.

Some industry expert:
Girly Men is a consumer trend identified by consultant that tells us that today’s man is not afraid to take care of himself and take steps to look and feel better. The average guy may still devote his Saturday afternoon to football, pizza and beer but he is also more complex and more comfortable tapping into the many facets of his identity—even those that would have once seemed a little “girly.”

Greek yoghurt + honey + almonds is a good, high protein/good fat snack, tastes bloody great too.

Key in terms of fat is good fats rather than bad fats, Avocados are great for good fats. Given that every cell in your body has a phospholipid bi-layer and the myelin sheath around your never endings both of which contain fat, cutting out of your diet completely like some do is not a great idea! It's all the shitty processed fats that stop you getting that six pack!

Really though I avoid carbs and try to incorporate foods with a higher protein-calorie ratio. Good ideas include eggs for breakfast, nuts, avocados, hummus, nut butter (preferably unsalted), greek yogurt with fruit/granola (although this can turn into a calorie bomb quickly), and I also try and drink more water and chew gum to stave off hunger and keep my stomach occupied.

People get into trouble by avoiding all fats and eating excess carbs. Carbs spike your blood sugar, result in drowsiness, and lead to weight gain. On the other hand, protein and healthy fats make you feel full and give you more energy. They are far more efficient to run your body off of. The more colorful, green, or leafy vegetables you can eat the better. Fruit and lean protein are also good choices.

I just look at nutrition labels and calorie websites. I find stuff that makes me feel more full with fewer calories. And I try to keep a very rough mental tally of my calories during the day.

Try downloading the MyFitnessPal app. Great way to accurately track calories for most days a week, and there are so many submissions that I don't have to work hard to find a good estimate for almost anything I eat.

Would have to say: - Oatmeal with some cinnamon, strawberries, bananas and protein powder - Apples or Celery with peanut butter - Kind bars - Cottage cheese - Quinoa

Ultimate morning snack though is two eggs scrambled on a Ezekiel toast with some peanut butter, spinach, onions, and jalapenos.

Peanut butter with this combo? Can you elaborate?

The best snack of all snacks (assuming you're a man)

Mix 1 cup oats, 2 tbsp natural pb, cinnamon, .5 scoops chocolate whey, some milk, and fresh berries (straw/blue/rasp). It's basically a natural/clean homemade cliff bar
