response time after first-round interview
For those of you who have been going through the interview process: how long have you typically had to wait to hear if you've made it to the second round?
I expected a couple days at minimum, but i'm still waiting to hear from interviews i had two weeks ago today...
anyone else had this happen to them?
I usually heard back the same day, or within one or two at the latest. I'd give them a call.
two weeks=dink
banks don't call back people who dont get second round interviews.
I got a call on every single one of my dinks, both 1st and 2nd rounds.

i usually do get immediate calls/emails if i have been dinked. I would think it extremely rude and unprofessional for a bank to tell an applicant they will get back to him, then never bother to contact him.
Hear back from first round (Originally Posted: 02/03/2012)
How long does it usually take to hear back from first round OCR interviews? I just interviewed with a couple of firms yesterday. Is it bad if I haven't heard back yet?
What did they say in regards to their timeline for a decision?
There wasn't anything officially stated and I didn't ask them either.
I would follow up late Monday or early Tuesday morning, just thanking the interviewers again for their time or w/e
^^ Great username
I would not be too worried, really depends on the firm and position.
Would love to chime in on this as well. If you don't mind me asking, which firms did you interview with?
I know someone who had OCR interviews with three firms this week and within 2 days was rejected for one and invited back for a superday with the other two..I though I haven't heard back from any of the ones I had this week either like the OP
After first rounds not hearing for up to a couple weeks is neither good nor bad.
After final rounds, anything more than a day or two is generally a bad sign.
I can't say which firms I interviewed with because I'm certain that will give my identity away. I know that banks get back to you very quickly and it's probably a bad sign if u don't hear back in a day or two. But I'm not sure how consulting firms work. I'm also not sure if weekends count as days if the interviewer told you they will get back to you in x amount of days.
A firm keeps silent after a phone interview (Originally Posted: 04/23/2014)
I recently had a phone interview with a boutique firm in Europe. As far as I could tell everything went well and the people I talked to told me they would be in touch shortly regarding firther steps.
It's been already almost 1.5 weeks but still nothing came from them. No phone calls, no e-mails. Seems like they forgot about me.
I've had bad first round/phone interviews in the past. But no matter how bad they were, the firm would always call back within a week and tell me that I was out. Like I said, this interview seems to have gone well and I'm surprised that I'm not hearing anything at all from them.
What do you think could be the reason here? And should I write them a reminder e-mail this week?
Any advice is appreciated!
Cheers
You can send in an email saying that you had spoke to XX and so on during the interview and was told to expect the results around this week etc. Just be polite and you will be fine. Most probably they are either interviewing other candidates or they might be too busy to prepare for the next steps or so.
Thanks for the reply hswc!
Yep, I guess, dropping them a polite reminder e-mail will be appropriate.
From my own personal experience, if you dont hear back within 1 week, it usually means that they picked other candidates. However, I would email the person you've had contact with at the firm just to make sure.
Sent the e-mail and one hour later one of the interviewers called appologizing for a delay and telling me that he was just about to call me to say that I'm moving on to the next round :) Strange things happen hehe.
Anyway, thanks for the replies again!
