Help me decide which offer to take
Currently debating between offers, looking for advice on what each job entails, next job it may lead to, and overall which would be the best to start my career?
F500 O&G analyst development program - 4 rotations over 2 years
Grant Thornton Valuation Associate
EY Structured Finance Analyst
Please any help would be greatly appreciated! Been ripping my hair out over this and need to decide soon, plus I want to put it behind me and truly enjoy my last couple months of college. Thanks!
Would help to comment what you're looking to do afterward.
Not going to help too much because I know they're different career paths, but PE and AM both sound very interesting to me. Long term I hope to own my own business(or fund).
F500 program probably better for b school which can open up doors to AM (probably not PE unless you did it before b school). Could also lateral to banking during / after your 2 year program.
After a year or two in val you could lateral to banking, MAYBE small PE firm (have seen this done), or AM.
Actually turned down the f500 program, location was in a very small town. That's also what I've heard of possible exit opps from val, all seem like enticing options
what type of valuation does the group at GT perform?
If they are heavy financial reporting, I would go EY.
Some valuation shops get heavy exposure to PE groups performing mark-to-market analysis on their portfolio for the LPs.
From my limited understanding the majority of the work is PPA and impairments. With structured finance aren't most of the trading floors for this in NYC? (no desire to move there)
