Helpful advice on my resume. Destroy it please!

Hey Everyone,

I would like your thoughts concerning my resume: http://www.razume.com/documents/27559

Background Info: I do not list my GPA because I graduated with a 2.85 and felt it was better to not display it. As you can see, I have extensive work experience for my age, but do not have relevant work experience for Investment Banking. I am wondering what type of job I would be able to land with my current resume, and what steps I can take to boost my credentials for an analyst-type role? Also, what would I be able to include in a cover letter to offset my lack of IB experience? Basically, what position do I actually have a shot at landing?

Thank you for your input.

Get rid of the retail job listings and put down more finance relevant information either from the business competition or from your current job. Also feel free to list any skills you have in depth (such as modeling) as a separate bullet point under work experience and expand on that.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have done self-study course work related to Financial Modeling and Financial Statement Analysis but it is not certified or accredited. Would I be able to include this type of experience? Or should I stick with experience gained through the University that doesn't particularly cover modeling, but does include analysis in excel?

Thank you for your help. Other opinions will be appreciated.

Recommendations: 1)Your relevant coursework does not need to include every class you took to complete your Economics major. Make it one line and only include specific courses that are actually relevant- corporate finance or accounting for example.

2)You don't need six bullets chock full of internal jargon to describe that you were a bank teller.

Questions: 1)Do you have language skills other than English?

2)Regarding your biz plan competition for Shanghai, have you ever been to China or studied Chinese language?

3)Why do you want to work in investment banking? I see no logical steps you have been taking so far to achieve this goal. You graduated last year and have worked as a bank teller ever since. I sincerely hope you have at least reached out to people within Wells Fargo's commercial banking and/or investment banking divisions.

Bottom line is that you'd better have a strong, compelling story to explain why you want to work in investment banking, and that you didn't just wake up one day and decide it would be cool. Right now I see none.

Thanks for the input. What steps could I take now? Should I go for an MSF or sit for the CFA? What type of work experience could I possibly gain to show my interest?
