Prime Brokerage - Middle Office to Cap Intro/Sales
Hi,
Long time reader, first time poster. I was hoping someone could provide some advice on the transitioning from a Middle office role with Prime Brokerage over to the Capital Introduction / Sales Team.
I currently have one and half years of back office/fund accounting experience but had to leave, as I was starting to lose my mind. I recently started this new position, currently hold my Series 7 and Series 63 and am hoping to move into more of a client facing role.
I understand the challenges of this transition and do not need reminding. I am merely asking for advice from experienced professionals.
Best ways to network with the teams? (Ask people out for coffee/drinks?) How to prove I would be an asset on the team? How long before I bring this idea up to my Manager?
Any Advice in general would be appreciated.
Thanks everyone
Do you sit next to any sales or FO guys? At least in the same floor or building? You first want to crush your current role, there will be no chance at a transition if you aren't a top performer in your current place.
Bobb - Yes, I sit near/next to a lot of the FO teams. We are all on the same floor and I will definitely work to become a top performer. The hard part is transferable skills and getting considered at all.
