How long is the longest pitch you have seen so far ??
So......i got sent this email today sayiing "excellent pitch for......." with a single FYI in the subject and an attachement.
Opened it and well.....i kept skimming through and through and through until I reached slide 83 and I took a second to think about it. How can you sit with a client and BS him / her for 83 slides; ofcourse I understand that a lot of these slides are league tables and credentials and other BS thrown into the mix, but if a client sees 80 slides infront of him I wonder what will happen.
Will he sit up straight and look excited like a 5 year old on christmas, or will he secretly think to himself "NOT AGAIN".
What do you all think ?
Heard of a healthcare pitchbook that was 350+ pages, it didn't fit into just one binding so they had to split it into 2 books... basically just had profile pages for the industry. I wouldn't be surprised if clients tossed out half the books they got as there are so many goddamn bankers pitching the same unoriginal ideas to them over and over, the industry has become such a joke.
Unfortunately, I get pitch books & IM's all the time for my energy deals and they usually get tossed under my desk (poor trees).
I only care about a few metrics; if they are not within the range then I don't bother to read anything else. I do enjoy the graphics though, seems every year they get more "dynamic" (poor analysts).
As I am one of the poor analysts , I do agree :) I was not a banker for as long as people at my desk or my manager, but I mean come on, why will the guy care about a graph / pic showing god knows what to go to market.
I totally agree with the metrics point that is of interest and then it all comes down to 2 people sitting down doing business and striking a deal !!! but maybe I am wrong, as I am not part of that process due to my "Junior" status.
The longest I've seen has been 117 slides (it was a long road show).
