How long to wait for a returned call?
Need some advice on the situation...
I had a superday last Thursday, which I think went pretty well. I shot thank you e-mails out to the group and got a few responses. But I didn't get a response from my main contact, a VP. I reached out yesterday, but got the office admin, who said she would send him a message that I called. Still no response more than 24 hours later.
I understand the process takes time, but I would like to at least get a little feedback for the time being. How long should I wait for a returned call/email?
Relax
I'd wait at least 2 weeks from the original day of the first contact. but in the future, never leave it ambiguous. always ask "when do you expect your group will be making decisions?" and if they say 1 month, call in 5 weeks if you don't hear something. there's a huge difference between being an eager beaver and being annoying as hell.
Wait a couple of weeks, then call again and ask like brofessor said above, ask when decisions will be made, not specifically what the decision was. Make sure to be polite, and not assuming.
What sort of role was it for? For myself and my circle of contacts post superday offers were made the next morning if not that night.
Thanks all. I probably should have waited for at least a week to go by before I called. But I did so assuming it would be a 5 minute conversation regarding timing since I was never given any indication of the sorts. Oh well...
They have an immediate need for a 1st year IB analyst. I got the interview through a contact, so I expected to at least have some sort of feedback pretty quickly.
Ive been on the hunt for over a year now with only one offer from a barely-standing group to show for it. Just makes being patient that much more difficult.
you do realize the 4th of July is a big travel time, right? not to be a dick, I'm just saying that just because they have an immediate need doesn't mean they need an analyst TODAY. patience, young grasshopper.
