How much can you actually make as a trader?

I was always interested in banking and sort of shunned the possibility of trading because I didn't think I'd be a good fit, however, I've recently become more interested. Yes, I am aware it depends on the product, your group's performance, your performance, your firm, etc.

How much could an analyst make within his/her first two years at a lets say a middle market IB?

Yes, I am sure this has been asked 1000x over but I am too lazy to use the search button.

There is an M&I interview about this. It says something along these lines... This is for prop. trading btw.

If you work at a bigger (BB) bank you'll get a base salary, somewhere along the lines of and IBD 1st year analyst. ~75k. However, your bonus is different everywhere you go, and If you work at a small firm you may work on commission, or pull a combination of salary/commission. Now your bonus at a prop shop can be huge or can be very little. It is said to be at the discretion of the partner or the PM in your group, because they decide how much percentage you get from your P&L.

This is what I read from an interview on M&I, not my experiences.
