How Much Will Interviewers Ask Me About Old Job?
I graduated 2011, worked for a financial planning/pensions firm from ~march 2011- summer 2012. I am doing an MSF this fall.
- How much time would be spent on my previous job in an interview?
- Will banks/companies/corporations ask me specific/detailed questions about the financial planning business? Or will the questions be more generalized/simple?
- And most importantly, will I have to go back and review stuff about my old job for interviews?
Thanks for all your help!
.
They'll probably only ask you about what you list on your resume.
Yes, but I'm going to list my only full-time job on my resume.
I think he means that they will ask about the bullet points you list.
Ah that makes sense. Anyone else know roughly how much time they will spend on it?
No offense, but are you an idiot?
No one knows how much time they will spend on it. It could be 5 seconds or 20 minutes. It heavily depends on the company, type of job you are interviewing for, how the interviewer is feeling that day, whether some keyword catches someone's eye, etc. So many variables. Just make sure the bullet points you list are true and have some story about what you did and how it's relevant to the job you are interviewing for.
There are probably people on WSO who transitioned into a different field after doing an MSF.
I was just curious as to how much time was spent on your previous job in an interview. Theres a big difference between roughly going over it, and talking about it for a third to a half the interview.
I will be focusing and studying hard attempting to get A's in a tough program and will not be thinking about my past job and if a great deal of time is going to be spent on it then I would like to be prepared and review everything so I don't sound like an idiot.
