How Often Should You Follow Up After an Interview?

Question in the title. I had an interview three weeks ago and was wondering if following up with HR once every week was too excessive and annoying or if I should keep doing so to show that I am still interested. Or would it not matter?

Once every other month (definitely before/after you drop your resume) or when you actually have a legitimate question. If HR actually comes to school that would also be a good time to shoot a follow up after you guys meet.

I have no experience with HR but I would probably get pretty irritated if some candidate sent me the same generic email every week.

Once a week is too much. Follow up once at the start and then every 2-3 weeks max - once a week will only annoy them and hurt you, because if they want to give you the job and if they don't/haven't decided then pestering will not help.

Keep in mind that if you haven't heard back for 3 weeks after a first round interview I'd say it's 99.999% certain you didn't advance.

Yeah, implicitly I meant if it's after a superday you're likely on a waitlist (assumed you were aware of this given the number of similar questions and responses on WSO) so there may still be some hope (although probably very little) but if it was after a first round interview then don't expect to go through to the second round.

Every offer I've ever received was within 3-4 days max. Once a firm took ~3 weeks and it turned out I was on a waitlist but in the end someone ahead of me accepted the last offer.
