How should I mention I was a top analyst in my class?
I'm in management/economics consulting within a niche field (energy and utilities M&A) that's not dissimilar to investment banking. In most of my work, our team is the independent economic advisor that helps a) project cashflows of power plants and utilities, b) conducts DD on seller materials, c) develops CIMs, investment theses, and Asset Management strategies. I know these skills are transferable to banking/PE, and with a rounding out of my finance skills, I hope to stick my neck (resume) into the thick of it and make my move.
That said, I know one thing that's desirable in the recruiting process is being well ranked within your analyst class. I found out I was in the top 5% of performers this past year (a pleasant, unexpected surprise). Does this type of thing make its way into the resume or a cover letter? If so, what's the most tasteful way to drop it? Or is it okay to full-on, shamelessly talk myself up?
Thanks!
