How to Apply for Office Location that Doesn't Recruit at my School?
Hey guys,
During OCR this upcoming school year, I'm going to be looking at working for consulting firm locations in my home state of Texas. Problem is, I've checked the websites for the firms I'm interested in and they specify which schools they recruit at for certain offices (ex. Dallas office recruits at X, Y, Z schools in Texas).
Do I just go about the process normally for OCR, and then rank my desired locations in TX? Or should I reach out to the HR people in each firm in my home state and talk to them about recruiting?
Assuming I only ask for office locations that are far away from the markets near my school (NYC, basically), am I going to have the same interview process and criteria as kids applying for more desirable offices?
Thanks.

basically my question is: do
basically my question is: do i wait to discuss the issue of office selection during my OCR interviews, etc? or should i pre-emptively be talking to the people in the office i want to interview for ahead of time because it will not be done through OCR?
Depends on who you are
Depends on who you are recruiting with and what school you go to. If you are applying to M/B/B, and go to a target (an Ivy, Stanford, etc) you will be able to pick virtually any office to interview with, as long as you have a compelling reason for that office. Granted, you have to pass a higher bar for a non local (to you) office to fly you to their city for final rounds.
Always a good step is to email the recruiting coordinator at the office you are interested in. Either that, or reach out to the "school lead" for your school. They'll be in the local office, but should be able to pass along your resume.
