I ran into the same issue for my internship this summer. They told me I had the position but did not tell me how much it paid. I'm not sure as to the best way but I asked them if this position offered a stipend (I thought it was better sounding than pay) and then they told me it was a salaried position. Good luck, and let us know how you do it, would be good to know for the future.

People usually appreciate straightforwardness in this industry. You really don't need to beat around the bush with an issue like money when the reality is that most people are doing it (at least partially) because they want to get paid a lot.

HR people may be a little different... but if you have a contact in the prime brokerage they probably wouldn't be offended if you were upfront, and just said you were curious what the compensation looked like. They already offered you the spot, so unless you're really an asshole about it they aren't going to re-neg because you want to know how much you'll get paid.

In fact, they'd probably be a little worried if you didn't care enough to find out. They want negotiators and savvy workers.

Lou:
I recently was given an offer at a BB for prime brokerage and was not told about the pay. How do I ask about this subject politely?

They said they do not normally give out offer sheets until they know the prospect is definitely going to accept.

Why not just say you're planning on accepting, pending a review of the terms of the offer letter?

"For all the tribulations in our lives, for all the troubles that remain in the world, the decline of violence is an accomplishment we can savor, and an impetus to cherish the forces of civilization and enlightenment that made it possible."

Also, FWIW, you don't have an offer from anyone until you have it in writing. That is literally the first thing that you should ask for when a place extends you an offer. Don't let them get by without sending you an offer package.

"For all the tribulations in our lives, for all the troubles that remain in the world, the decline of violence is an accomplishment we can savor, and an impetus to cherish the forces of civilization and enlightenment that made it possible."

Depends... do you need the $$$ to make it through the internship? If so, then obviously you gotta ask about it in advance. If not, then just go with the flow. If you think you need $$ as a sophomore to incent you to join the industry, then you are looking at joining the wrong industry. Good luck with whatever direction you go.
