Interview Scheduling Conflicts?!

So, I have a lot of first round interviews next week, almost back to back every single day. For many banks, they notify you if you got the second round/super day the night of and then you have it the next day. The problem is, if you have a crap ton of interviews the next day too for other banks, would it be too difficult for the banks who took you for a second round to reschedule? I'm sure they know that all the banks are doing interviews on campus during that same week and many candidates have multiple interviews, so why even have superdays the next day?

I have never heard of a superday being the day after a first round interview... I think they give you at least a week or so before contacting you for a superday, which can be scheduled for later that week.

But I have a similar question: one of my classes meets everyday and counts attendance, and they say missing 5 classes leads to a full letter grade lower. Should I be worried about this? How many superdays do people get usually? How often are they on Saturdays?

I wouldn't be worried about this; having five superdays would be a fantastic problem. If you somehow manage to make it to five superdays, I'm sure you could speak with your professor and he will most likely understand (as you are missing class for a completely legitimate and important reason). If, however, he is a dick and still decides to lower your course grade, consider it a small price to pay. Which is more important: a grade in a random college class or potentially setting yourself up for a great career?

I have never had a superday on a Saturday, but I don't know if they never happen.

Good luck with the process. I hope for your sake you have a problem with missing class.

Yo this shouldn't be a big deal people reschedule superdays all the time, usually firms have multiple superdays anyway so this shouldn't be a problem. Ask them to reschedule and if for some reason they can't go from there.

I don't think HR keeps that close a watch over applicants to the different divisions. Since one is officially through HR and the other through a recruiter I think you will be ok and no one will notice. Also depends on the bank. I know a SA that had 5 first round phone interviews with BAML for Eq. Research, Trading, IDB, Cap Markets, and Ops. Also, people at the BAML Superday on Feb. 26 had multiple interviews. Some were doing S&T and Cap Markets, while others were doing IBD and Cap Markets. People knew this and did not have a problem (I know a guy that got 2 BAML offers).

I would not mention it unless directly asked by HR about the conflict. If you asked during the interview about other interviews/offers...lie. Telling the truth about two different divisional interviews will bring up the question of ultimate desire and might hurt you in the eyes of the division you are interviewing with because they will think you don't really want the position/career if your looking at a completely different position or career choice.

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

Just call/email the firm you have a first round with and ask for an alternative day, but most likely they will offer a phone interview. Problem solved. Happens all the time and they will always accommodate you with a phone interview. Simple

Lots of people share the same last name. Unlikely your relation will come up unless it's an extremely uncommon name.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

eh idk, if you interview with people from his group they may bring it up. If they do, be honest and be concise, while leaving out any negative details. something along the lines of "yes, but we don't really keep in touch" or something along those lines.

my answer above could be completely wrong/inappropriate, but take it with a grain of salt. if it comes up, act professional, be concise and try to move the conversation elsewhere.

"My name's Ralph Cox, and I'm from where ever's not gonna get me hit"

Would it be appropriate to just ask if it is possible to reschedule? If I did so, do you think it would show a lack of determination? This is one of my top choices. Its such an unfortunate situation because I don't want to lose the opportunity, or screw up an interview because I can't find a suitable location.

If you're talking with HR, I don't think it's going to be a big deal. Especially if you have a cough exam cough that day.

On-site interviews- particularly in trading- are long and mentally draining. You will come out feeling dizzy, tired, and wanting to go crawl under some rock. Like an organic chemistry final with a prof who's constantly yelling.

Trust me. You don't want to do this to yourself. One round of interviews per day.

If you are absolutely set on this, there's a library at State & Congress St. It's two blocks south of the main entrance to the CBOT (Jackson) and a few blocks east. Big pink red brick building. Can't miss it. I haven't been there since the day it opened 20 years ago when I was in kindergarten, but it was quiet back then.

Please don't do this to yourself. Just reschedule the darned interview- it shouldn't be a problem since THEY set the time. You'll thank me that afternoon. :D

Sorry for the late response, I totally forgot about this posting. I thought I might as well give an overview of what I did and what happened in-case someone else had an issue like this come up. I gave them a very cordial email saying I had an exam and needed the interview moved. They were able to move my phone interview to a later date. Further, I got a summer and later full-time offer with this firm so thank you everyone for the advice.

So to monkeys that have this problem, just because HR says they cannot move it does not mean that's entirely true. If you are a good enough candidate I believe they will find time to interview you.
