Asset Management/ Global Investment Research Interview Guide
Hi,
I'm kind of new to this whole process as and as posted recently was selected for a phone interview through a Goldman Veterans Program. I'm assuming the next step if I am so lucky will be a super day on site as the phone interview seemed to go well. What is the best guide on here to prepare for an Asset Management/ global investment research type interview? Does the IBD one have the AM prep as well? I saw a free Vault one online but hear that one is outdated. I appreciate the help as I believe I have about a month to prepare.
In addition, I don't know for sure what division at Goldman I'll be interviewing for but am trying my best to show my interest in the AM/ GIR division which is why I want to prepare in that area. I appreciate the help and any recommendations/ study guides to prepare.
conrgats on getting the phone interview. I applied for the program during its first year, but wasn't selected. I have spoken to people that went through the program and members of the Goldman veteran group.
shoot me a PM with your background and what questions you might have.
I appreciate it. I've actually been reaching out to people who have gone through the program as well. Talked to a few so far. PM sent.
ms for what reason?

What kind of questions are typically asked? What are interviewers looking for?
Depends on the group and style. A generalist knowledge of finance and the markets, asset-class specific questions, investment ideas, etc., not too different from finance interviews in general but with more emphasis on portfolio construction. Quant groups will ask math questions and brainteasers.
