How to prepare for Happy Hour event for Consulting Recruiting (Tier 2 firm)?
Hello Everyone,
I have been invited to an Happy Hour networking dinner session that is exclusive and invitation only by a Tier 2 consulting firm.
I have a strong feeling that although it is a casual networking session, I think it will be evaluative to a certain extent.
Has anyone had an experience with such an event and how to prepare for it?
Thank you so much and I would appreciate any help!
Whatever you do, don't get drunk
unless you have really low tolerance, I'd drink 2 drinks and then order a 3rd but don't finish it. I've seen guys chug that last 1/4 glass of wine before leaving an event and that's really bad form.
Drink Guinness. Comparatively low alcohol content (4.1%) and a heavier beer that will keep you from throwing them back too fast (unless you are a regular Guinness drinker like myself).
Definitely don't drink too much, and be casual and fun -- recruiters want to see that you are someone who can relax and not get super stressed out.
Don't get drunk. Be fun and not too intense. Know the firm well and show interest. Ideally, you'll know a consultant who will be at the event but that's not necessary.
Ultimately, you'll make a good impression if you're humble and down to earth, ask some good questions, and can have a decent conversation. It will help that most of your peers will not follow this advice and work against themselves.
Be enthusiastic, ask meaningful questions, don't call it a Tier 2 firm at the event and you should be fine with the addition of the advice already provided.
Here are some tips for making an "unforgettable" impression:
-Get near him in a crowded room and, as you pass by, touch his lower back, rest your hand on his forearm or steady yourself on his biceps.
-Guys love to hear their names — throw his into conversation a couple of times, and he'll know you're into him.
-Cross your legs and slowly move your top foot in circles. His eyes will be drawn to your gorgeous gams since men are used to focusing on movement.
YOU. GOT. THIS.

It's not as big as a deal as you think. If you don't already have a contact that will pass your resume to HR, try to lock one or two down.
haha thanks for the advice guys!I I actually do not drink but I will make it an aim to stay there for as long as I can and be social and friendly with everyone whilst also being informative and knowledgeable about the firm
