How to proceed
cold emailed a senior analyst, who is an ex-pat in the country that I am planning to study abroad in.
"I had relayed your request to my superior (Head of Research) to see if we have any capacity to take on an intern. I haven’t heard back from him yet, but I fear the answer will be no, and if ‘yes’, they’d probably prefer to use that slot to vet a young ____ candidate who might make a full-time local hire upon graduation. However, I will continue to pursue it. Also, I have contacts through the analyst community, and if not with ___, then maybe we can get your foot in the door somewhere else."
Thoughts? Should i ask for a phone call or how should i proceed?
you say thank you and wait for a week or two. then follow up
He is basically telling you that you are not going to get it.
Ask him to talk on the phone soon. Get his career advice, ask him questions about his role. At the end make sure you close by asking him if you could speak with some of his other contacts and work from there.
I have success when I network quick. Ask to speak with him right away. Good luck.
