How would you define this business model?
The company owns a number of subsidiaries, operating largely independently, but all in similar industries.
The companies are in the maintenance, janitorial, and security services business. Corporate HQ / Parent Co provides back office support but largely lets them continue to run independently. Parent Co also has their own operations (same industry) with organic growth but the vast majority (certainly by count, but also by $ of revenue) of locations were acquisitions.
I'm not sure "conglomerate" is the right term as all the businesses are in similar industries. "Holding company" also doesn't seem right as there is substantial staff at corporate HQ, between 100-300 people.
How would you describe this business?
Thanks
