How would you inquire about a position far in advance +1 year?
How would you go about reaching out to someone at a company where you are interested in working for them in the semi distant future?
Basically, there is a company that is in the news as growing a lot over the next two years. It's in my hometown where I am seriously considering moving back to in early 2016. I've already connected with the CFO on LinkedIn and am trying to figure out the best way to word an email to basically say that I'd be very interested in working for them in a year to a year and a half. I know they will be growing during that time period and I'd like to figure out how to maximize my opportunity to get an interview then.
How would you word that email? Would you reach out or wait until closer to then?
The job would be a jump from Sr Analyst to Manager FP&A ideally. I will be qualified for that job by then, but will be interested in moving which will make my job search more complicated. I'm in the same industry and know that it could be a solid fit.
I'm just at a loss for how to word the email to start a discussion and get on their radar for when they are hiring.
What do you think?
