H/S/W+ MBB = Instant Job Security

Would going to the top 3 business schools (perhaps also include INSEAD in this) and then going on to MBB (or Booz in the mid east) provide you pretty much with the same job security as working for the Fed gov (with the obvious perk being much higher salaries)? Would someone with MBB and HSW on their resume always be in demand? I'm not talking about high six figure jobs, but would you always be guaranteed a 100-200K salary gig with relatively stable hours?

No, nothing is guaranteed...but as long as you aren't a consistent underperformer / extremely lazy (woudl be weird if you had made it through HSW + MBB) having that background will keep a lot of doors open for a long time.

This also depends by what you mean "always in demand"....$100-200k is not automatic with these degrees / background by any means, especially if you want to venture out of consulting. Also, if there is a major recession / depression, all bets are off.

I hate to go against the owner of this site, but I disagree. Nothing is ever guaranteed. "Job security" is a moving target. The world is changing, and I think that the individual who holds those credentials will drive the answer to that question.

I think it's really hard to justify that someone might "always be guaranteed a $100K plus salary gig with relatively stable hours". I'm not sure there are that many jobs out there like that, to be honest. I think the answer is more likely that a person from a great business school and management consulting experience might open up doors to exciting ventures that might not otherwise be available, but a steady job? Not so much.
