Ibanking applicants get along quant applicants better than fellow ibanking applicants?

Call this a useless question if you want, but I was just curious as to what you all thought. My friend who's applying to all i-banking positions for internships, said that he get along with quant interns better, simply because they're also interested in finance and they don't compete with them for i-banking internships, and vice versa. Likewise, he said that on campus, particularly in investment clubs, the quant applicants make friends with i-banking applicants, but they are really competitive towards other prospective quants. Is this true? How do you all feel towards guys applying to the same positions as you (i-banking), and how do you feel about guys who aren't (quants)?

I'm personally very good friends with a lot of the people applying to IBD at my school. That kinda happens when you're around a lot of people with similar interests. I have a pretty good offer now, but even before I did, I gave a bunch of my friends advice based on interviews I went through. There is absolutley nothing to be gained by being "competitive" (and as I read it, adversarial) towards people with the same career interests as you.
