IBD in Hong Kong vs Singapore? Seeking insight from Vets
Hi guys, I realise this is a US-centric forum but I was hoping some Asian bankers or veterans in the industry could share some insight on the pros and cons of IBD in Hong Kong vs Singapore.
1) Deal exposure?
2) Prestige?
3) Exit ops?
4) Working hours?
5) Bonus sizes and promotion?
6) Long-term viability? (Will Beijing negate Hong Kong in the future as an IBD center?)
I'm mainly concerned with the above points. I'm familiar with the lifestyle, cultural and language factors.
Thanks very much! :)
Good question, Cindy! I'm curious about this as well.
as for Q6, my personal take is (sadly) highly unlikely- within China, the competition remains between Shanghai & HK- (but watch out for Tianjin, a costal city 2-hr from BJ...)

I'm currently pursuing my undergraduate in the United States (Fin/Econ at a non-target) and I'm looking to break into IBD at a BB somewhere in Asia, ideally in Hong Kong or Singapore. Does anybody have any experience or advise to share about getting hired in Asia with a degree from the US? I can work in both places with no Visa issues. Currently entering my junior year and looking for an internship next summer, with the hope of leading on to a full-time offer
