I think it will turn out to be false accusations.

I mean, a 32-year-old hotel maid ?! 1. The guy is married to Anne Sinclair, one of the hottest TV anchors on French TV in her time 2. People who sleep in $3000 a night suites can fork out an additional $1000 on escorts

Plus, months away from a French presidential election he was set to win... this is no coincidence.

  1. I said "in her time" and you picked a disadvantageous picture of her. You tell me if your wife is that hot when she turns 62. http://fabricemichel.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/dsk.jpg

  2. Totally relevant. Studies show a link between poverty and rape. Rich and powerful people don't need to rape women. Plus, they stand to lose more if caught.

That he is a known seducer (nothing exceptional in France) doesn't make him a rapist.

Btw, kind of ironic to see "Solidarity" attack a Parti Socialiste heavyweight.

Guys, there's no way NYPD would have coordinated with the Port Authority to yank his ass off a flight moments before takeoff if the allegations weren't credible. In addition to the personal items left behind in a seeming rush, they also have "forensic evidence" and he submitted to DNA testing last night as far as I know. It sounds like the maid may have had his skin under her fingernails or something (just a guess based on what I've read).

The cops knew who this guy was, and NYPD certainly doesn't give two shits about the outcome of a French election next year. If there was a set-up of any kind, they certainly aren't a part of it. Enough celebrities get in trouble in New York for the cops to be incredibly discreet. If there wasn't anything there, they wouldn't have yanked this guy off a plane and made a public spectacle of him.

We cover some of this in this week's NSFW.

dude come on.. if there was a large conspiracy on a government/international scale against the guy to get him out of the presidential race then they would make sure that everything "looked" credible. just an idea...

"They" also wouldn't use a sexual indiscretion to ruin a guy from a country where sexual indiscretions are all but celebrated. Sarkozy used the French equivalent of a Navy SEAL team to break into an apartment in the wealthiest neighborhood in Paris to retrieve nude photos of the First Lady, for fuck's sake.

Also, you need to give the NYPD more credit. I'm sure they're sensitive to the possible political motivations behind any accusations against a sitting diplomat. Also, obviously I don't have any personal experience with such things, but I'll bet it's harder to credibly fake this stuff than you think.

In any case, it's gonna be interesting to see what happens. Safe to say either way he's out of the race next year, though.

Makes sense. One does not undertake this kind of ultra high profile arrestation (the guy has almost head of state status) without taking a handful of caution.

Sure, Eddie. The guy who runs the IMF, and a full professor at one of France's elite institution, is stupid enough to chase a "technicienne de surface" down a (probably CCTV'd) corridor and proceed to rape her in the ass without a condom and/or force her to give him head (à la Shawshank Redemption?).

This shit is potentially Eliot Spitzer x100000. Let's remain decent and remember that one is not guilty until proven so.

I totally agree, and even mention the presumption of innocence in this week's video. However, he didn't chase her down a public hallway (under CCTV surveillance), he was in a private suite with multiple rooms and its own private hallway.

I also agree that it's whacked, but if hundreds of multi-millionaire rock stars, athletes, and politicians doing equally stupid shit over the years have shown us anything it's that you can't put anything past them. Sometimes guys just do stupid shit.

I find the online commentary ridiculous.

So basically:

  • anyone accuses a potential candidate for office of rape/murder/theft/whatever, and that candidate cannot run??
  • he hasn't even been tried yet but his reputation is "shattered"??
  • you forget you cell phone behind, call the hotel to ask whether it was found, and suddenly, you're fleeing the country? Oh wait did he not have a meeting with Merkel?

The thing is, that people tend to see and remember the arrest, ont the acquittal. I don't remember who it was (CEO of HealthSouth I think), but the WSJ polled and some 60% of readers knew he was arrested on embezzlement/accounting fraud, but less than 10% knew he was acquitted. The arrest is front page news, the acquittal is a small tory in the middle of the first section.

Reality hits you hard, bro...

Also, he forced her to give him head. Sodomy is anal/oral sex btw. The sodomy laws are against homosexuals, and those are the ways that they interact sexually. Because forced oral sex would be easier to prove (its not going to be a rape kit, its probably based on epithelial cells, noise, and the general victim's bias in courts. And the fact that he was known as a (unattractive) philanderer isn't going to help him.

I don't know if he did it or not and the timing of this whole thing lends some ground to conspiracy lovers but those who claim the guy was too smart and accomplished to do it, miss a simple point...people make stupid mistakes. And people like DSK allow themselves things like that all the time, but its not known because they are able to hide it or pay for it.

Agreed. We'll see how the inquiry goes but the one thing I just don't get is: even if he HAD BEEN set up, then WTF would he almost run away instead of calling the police himself to clear things out? And also, the IMF chief doesn't leave his phone behind. It's probably a blackberry with a lot of sensitive stuff inside. I mean if you were in that kind of position and thought you were being set up, then the last thing your reason would dictate would be to leave like that. So he must have completely freaked out whatever happened in that room...

Besides, I would deem it fair to run a comprehensive and detailed inquiry on the woman involved.

Just FYI, his camp's explanation for the phone thing is that he carries two or three phones with him at all times, so it's conceivable that he left one behind. That's actually how they caught him. When he called the hotel looking for it, the cops were already there and convinced the desk clerk to ask him where he was so he could personally deliver the phone.

A French writer who claims Dominique Strauss-Kahn sexually assaulted her nine years ago is to file an official complaint, her lawyer has announced.

Tristane Banon previously described the attack, which happened when she was in her early 20s, in a television programme in 2007, when she called Strauss-Kahn, whose name was bleeped out, a "rutting chimpanzee."

The US doesn't NEED to conspire: it can openly use an iron fist - someone's well known character defect will be conveniently used against when it is politically expedient.

There's no doubt that he did it, but the fact that he is getting shit for it here indicates the US's desire to twist some arms for the sake of some advantage.......

The US doesn't NEED to conspire: it can openly use an iron fist - someone's well known character defect will be conveniently used against them when it is politically expedient. This will allow the US to implicitly restablish control over certain facets of IMF policy, with logic falling along the lines of "look at who we just arrested - fall in line or you're next".

I have no idea whether he did it or not, but some of the things I've read on here are pretty retarded.

1) Being rich/powerful does not mean you are incapable of committing a crime.

2) Being rich/powerful does not preclude you from having a propensity towards raping women.

3) Just because he is rich/powerful and doesn't HAVE to rape a woman, doesn't mean he might not in the heat of the moment.

I mean, seriously guys, these are some of the most foolish comments I've seen. In fact, I'd go so far as to say someone that's at this man's political level would be MORE likely to rape a woman if he felt like he was being snubbed. I have no doubt he has a major ego, but I also know we don't have enough information to declare innocent/guilty.

you should really work on your reading comprehension. Nobody implied that its impossible, just that those factors make it less likely.

Also LOL at the other chick coming out after 9 years with the rape allegation. She was probably bored at home and now that she got and old ugly lacking in attention so decided to make up some total bullshit.

I mean I hate DSK because hes a double standard champagne communist, equivalent to the communists of the former Soviet Union who exploited common people to finance their own lavish lifestyles, and I really hope he does rot in hell, but this whole thing just does not seem to check out.

Then again I might just be underestimating the factor of rich/successful people doing totally irrational and crazy shit.

It perplexes me as to why someone of his stature and position would fuck some lowly maid. Clinton 2.0. If you're rich, powerful, etc, and feeling adulterous you'll have to tag someone of equal standing (consent is also something to aim for) simply as a precaution.

Remember that rape is not a crime of sexuality, its an expression of dominance and power. People like him feel that they can get away with whatever they want. She happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, he saw her and felt like he owned her. Anyways I find this whole affair to be rather symbolic, given that the IMF has raped its fair share of countries.

yeah....he's the IMF chief who is considered the next most likely French President?

annnnd the fact that the maid is ugly?

Something is VERY VERY VERY fishy here. Unless the guy is a total nut without ANY conscience, I'd like to see (1) him go to trial but also (2) having the maid and all his political enemies back in France investigated as well for conspiracy to frame.

this isnt meant to be racist but lets be real here: if you're a white IMF chief who is also FRENCH why the fuck would he hire a black prostitute? i'm not being racist but it's true. white guys in high rankings are less likely to hire black hookers much less someone that ugly.

I'm really sorry. I didn't mean for it to be. I just wrote the comment based on typical probability. It might come off as racist but that would be more reflective of white people's racial preferences as a whole. For example, it wouldn't be racist to comment on here that certain white people in the South hate blacks because it's true.

Didn't mean to be racist. If you look in my post history I'm not even fully white.

My first thought was that he was fucked up on some kind of lsd or something. I mean he's chilling ass naked in his hotel room and then emerges from out of no where and chases a woman down like a crazy person (this is was all in my imagination as I read the article.) A guy of his stature just doesn't snap. So I'm thinking he was probably super fucked up.

Or, someone mentioned the whole notion of maybe he came on to her and then she refused and as his pride was hurt shit turned for the worst. Also a possibility.

O well. Maybe he turns out to be innocent and then dies of AIDS a few years from now.

She doesn't have AIDS, she is just subletting.

I think this was either a set up or possibly consensual gone bad. Rapists rape for all kinds of reasons. What rapists DONT do is rape in a fucking expensive hotel room booked under their name with camera's all around. Why not just rape the police chief in the friggin police department.

This is EXACTLY why certain crimes should be tied without the accused being disclosed. Rapists, child molesters, etc, all should not have their identity revealed until they are convicted.
