Imperial MSc Management VS LSE MSc Management and Strategy
Hi everyonw, I am accepted by Imperial MSc Management and LSE MSc Management and Strategy. I am now very hesitating between those two schools. I am aware that LSE has a better reputation in city, however, I am not really quite into this programme compared to IC management. Addtionally, I was a biochemist before this. So, any suggestions ? Thanks very much, I would appreciate it.
LSE places slightly better, and you'll be surrounded by more career oriented people than you will at Imperial. However, both are good schools and with networking you should be able to get interviews at MBB from either.
How is the imperial college business school reputation in UK these days?
I have heard that MBB only accept MBA...
MBB definitely accept undergraduates and masters students but in very limited numbers. Bain’s class is of 15.
I agree with the poster above. I would say that for your background as a biochemist, the LSE brand might actually offer more value (more rounded image than if you stay at a very nat. science oriented university).
Both schools are great though and if you think you would be unhappy in one of the programs, definitely go for the other one.
I am wondering if IC will have more science companies in the career fair
There is a biorad variety of companies present at the careers fairs including finance companies such as DE Shaw, Marshall Wace, Brevan Howard and the other banks. We also have all the MBB come to campus as well as other consulting firms like LEK consulting etc (who also partner with us for the Imperial consulting group projects).
I am biased as I see Imperial students being more academically smart but having less business acumen than your average LSE student. Most LSE students attend and immediately know their plans, whereas at Imperial you have a bunch of very intelligent (but lazy) STEM kids who panic final year.
I did MSc Mgmt at Imperial and I had a fantastic experience academically and socially (~200 class size at imperial vs 50+ at LSE). Most people from the programme work in consulting at Deloitte/Accenture (me included) and only 2 went to MBB.
how helpful is the IC MSc Management degree when you looking for a consulting job
A lot of my peers got MBB interviews so it is definitely helpful. Those that don't usually lack quality internship working experience.
Either program will land you an interview at top consulting firms like MBB, Strategy&, Oliver Wyman etc. I know a few grads that attended Imperial College Business School and those with good grades got their invitations easily. You cannot go wrong with either program.
I would go for LSE, since it gives an added dimension to your experience - Science + Financey stuff (Imperial still has a very geeky vibe to recruiters)
