In the market for a cat -- most prestigious breeds?

All,

As the title suggests, I am in the market for my first cat and was hoping to get your suggestions on breeds. It can be tough to regularly socialize with the hours at work, and it would be nice having some company around the apartment.

Are there any breeds that are known to be particularly prestigious? Additionally, is there any empirical evidence as to which are the best "pussy magnets"? I have heard Persian cats check the boxes quite well, but am looking for something a bit more exotic. Was looking at Ocelots but heard of some people being sued for privately owning them.

Also, I am at work 80+ hrs/week, so are young cats usually able to usually fend for themselves? Or does it work like kids where it's better to adopt a teenager rather than raise one for yourself?

Would appreciate any input.

adapt or die:

Either a Savannah Cat (domestic mix with Serval at various percentages)

OR

Legend Leopard (domestic mix with small % bobcat)

Yeah I was going to say leopard cub but I think panther will work too. Anything that will eventually murder you in cold blood works.

mrb87:

Ocelot

I had looked into these but it seems that it's illegal to privately own exotic pets without a license. Although it's tempting, I am currently recruiting for PE and don't want to risk any blemishes on my background check.

@Hugh Myron I was on the phone with a client when I saw this, laughed out loud. needed that this morning

Apologies, but the sphynx looks like a scrotum-- is this prestigious in some sort of backwards way? I will, however, look into the bengal cat. Thank you for the suggestions.

Anything less than a Siberian Tiger and you might as well just quite finance and go take your place at McDonald's flipping burgers. Prestige, danger, security, independence. Everything you want in a cat.

Dog is more prestigious than cat.

Because "I want a husky rug instead of a gorgeous tiger pelt rug", said no one ever. And because needy dogs are better than prissy, independent felines, said no one ever :D

A dog will give you more unconditional love than any woman.

Great book, http://www.amazon.com/The-Feline-Mystique-Mysterious-Connection/dp/0312…

The excerpt below is from a woman who is definitely attracted to pussy.

"We know we can buy affection, at least temporarily. What we want is to be chosen. And we want to be chosen by Intelligent, well-kept-up, Attractive individuals. We want to be chosen for who we are, complete with all our insecurities and waverings and all those lovely vulnerabilities that we have been taught to disdain ourselves, and we are--by our cats."

Chose your pussy wisely OP. I say go exotic like a sexy panther, dip into your PE signing bonus if need be.

Excellent anecdotal evidence fpr why you should go for women who like dogs over women who like cats.
