Include GPA on resume for consulting program?
Hey all,
I recently applied to a summer program with a consulting firm and was accepted. In the application, they requested a resume. On that version, I included both a cumulative and major GPA. After last semester, my GPA dipped below a 3.5 (I can't round it up to a 3.5 either), so I'm thinking about just listing my major GPA on my updated resume. Is this advisable, or would the assumption be that my cumulative GPA is lower than it is?
Thanks for your advice!
Just give them your real GPA. They won't rescind your offer for a marginal decrease. (I assume).
Sorry, I should have clarified. The updated resume is being requested for another program they're having later in the year. Do you still recommend putting the cumulative GPA back on?
This is actually a tough call. I'm assuming you're stressing because of the firms that have minimum 3.5 requirements. Can you give more details into what these "programs" are? It's hard to make a proper call without better knowledge of the programs you're talking about.
The program later this year invites participants to work with a team on a case for a few days. There aren't any explicit cumulative GPA requirements, but they'd probably compare the older resume to the current one and notice the drop. There are legitimate reasons for the drop, but I'm afraid they'd assume I slacked off and ding me right there.
