Incoming MSc LSE student - applying to summer internships in US?

Hey guys,

so I'm an incoming MSc in A&F at the LSE and was wondering if, on top of applying to 2015 summer internships in London, I should also apply to internships that are in the United States.

Do people do this? I'm thinking of doing it to maximize my chances. The travelling would be a bit of an issue since this usually takes place between October-December and I'll have class then. Since my country is part of the EEA, then there's also the Visa application to do.

What do you guys think?

It's just a thought I had, nothing serious as of now.

Thanks

"apply to internships" is an incredibly vague statement however, in my general opinion, you will improve your chances only marginally

american firms target juniors for summer analysts, and MBAs for summer associates being in a masters program puts you in an awkward position, as you are neither an undergrad, nor an MBA

Because I'd like to try my hands at IBD (M&A/ECM/DCM/...) and my two 6 month offcycle internships have more or less involved financial markets.

What do students at these programs typically do? Apply for full time positions right away? I heard quite a few of them apply for summer internships, and if they are offered a FT, start in Jan/Feb 4-5 months later.

As far as I know you're right there. Lots of them go for FT recruiting obviously, but also several take summer internships.
