Informationals with HR?
I was wondering if anyone ever had an informational meeting with HR. What can one expect from a meeting with HR that is different then a meeting with a banker?
Thanks

You can expect to waste your time
Informational with HR is a waste of time. They will tell you about the great training program, diversity, work / life balance, blah blah. It will absolutely not help you in getting a job (in my experience) or in figuring out the company's culture.
heh..you can speak with HR.
heh..you can speak with HR. If they like you, they'll be more than happy to put you in touch with other analysts. They wouldn't dare to put you in touch with someone at the VP or above level.
It all depends. When I went through this, some HR chicks told me to find my own contacts and they weren't willing to put their neck on the line.
Others did a lot more such as sending me the names of 3-4 analysts and offering to set up informationals with analysts that graduated from my school. It helpled since some analysts were hard to get a hold of.
Make sure you ask to be put in touch with analysts at some point in the process. I usually did it in the thank you letter or at the end of the meeting where I said that I'd like to learn more about the analyst's day to day responsibilities in more depth.

Don't you want a president who's already dressed for it?
I am not sure what your
I am not sure what your intentions are. Assuming you'd rather be in banking than HR:
Maybe you can gain some connections to banking analysts through HR? I know I've heard of HR informational meeting leading to banking informational meetings. Can't say this resulted in an offer, but it's worth a shot.
