Instinet
Does anyone have any info on Instinet? I know it's a broker and it's parent is Nomura, but does anyone have more information on what it's like there at all? I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Career Resources
With the exception of Japanese equities, all of Nomura's agency orders in equities are now routed via Instinet.
Thanks for the information!
Know a senior trader there who absolutely loves everything about it. They were shuffling people around for a while because Nomura people were going into Instinet and taking positions, but from what I know it has mostly died down. Minimal entry level positions there though.
Thanks for your input. It sounds like there is a lot of experience there then and would be a good place to learn if an entry level position was possible.
Like Barchetta said, they have moved all the people from Nomura's Electronic Trading to Instinet. I know one of the people who started working at Nomura and has moved. They have a very solid agency business, at least in London and he seems very happy about the people he works with. But it is an agency business, so you need to know if that's your cup of tea. From what I know most juniors came from Nomura though, so I don't know how feasible it is to get in.
I am not sure about anything more about Instinet however i appreciate the decision which you make.

Hi all, I have an interview with Instinet coming up soon and I was oping someone has some info. Don't know much about what it entails or what to expect.. first interview for this type of role. They are a agency-only broker. Role is a graduate sales / trader role - they have been very vague on details so far... Any info/advice would be great. Thanks
About 'Agency Only' brokers e.g Instinet (Originally Posted: 03/30/2014)
Hi guys, Trying to understand fully what an 'Agency Broker' is and what they mean when they say 'equity only trading'.
I thought, agency broker means they only perform trades on-behalf of their clients. This is correct yh?
But 'equity only trades' is what I don't understand.
Also, is there anything I should know about Instinet? I know they are: - a trading arm for Nomura, - An agency only broker, - the first to implement electronic trading, What else please? But when they say trading arm, does that imply that they basically execute all trades for Nomura and it's clients - and this only involves buying and selling of stocks? And any examples of their clients? Am I right to say pension funds, companies, individuals etc?
Don't know who their clients are but whoever they are, this group executes their equity trades. Have a seller? Find a buyer (and vice versa).

Have a connection there, trying to schedule a call with them. I would just like to know a bit more about the firm, seems like basically a flow execution quant shop. Also looks like they provide a solid trading platform to their clients...other than that, I don't really know much. Looks like a very cutting edge place. Anybody else know anything more? Doesn't seem to be much on here yet about them.
