Interview modeling/valuation exercise

Hello

I have a banking interview soon and I was told that I will be given a modeling/valuation exercise to test me - I am a 2nd yr analyst in banking but I have never heard of this kind of interviewing before.

Has anyone gone through a similar interview, if so what did you get? how was it and how long was it? Also, how was it laid out? Any input/advise is much appreciated.

Thanks

My bank has a pretty simple standard financial statement/valuation test given to prospective analysts. It has NPV question, simple valuation, basic financial statement filling in the "gaps" and projections. Nothing to worry about for a 2nd year. It takes a little over an hour.

That sounds about right (the previous poster). I have been given one of these before, for a MM shop internship - essentially it was fill in the gaps in the financial statement, build a graph and maybe a DCF - I was an intern, so it could be a bit more complex for an incoming 2nd year analyst. That said, I don't see it as being terribly difficult for you - if you know your financials and simple valuation techniques, along with a few Excel tricks, you should be fine. Don't stress about it.
