Economic Consulting Interview Tips / Case topics
I have a couple of on-site interviews coming up at economic consulting companies, think: Brattle, Analysis Group, Cornerstone, etc. -- I come from an investment banking background -- i know i am going to have case interviews -- any tips/advice/best-way-to-prepare -- anything would be helpful -- thanks
No advice, just wondering what your pre-IB experience was?
I interviewed with Cornerstone and can speak a bit to this. In prep for these cases I relied on Case In Point, which provided good frameworks for approaching problems. I can tell you that Cornerstone's cases (as compared to those w/ strategy firms) were much more structured and interviewer-led. As expected they were more #s oriented, and usually revolved around trying to pin down a # for damages to a particular client. Your experience with finance should help, as a couple of the cases dealt with stock prices and futures contracts. If you run through some practice cases with a buddy you'll be in good shape - just make sure that your back-of-the-envelope math is up to par, cause you'll need it.
