Introduction - Finding a home at a value-minded shop
I've enjoyed reading several forums on here with great advice and more realistic information about getting in and working in finance, so I thought I'd get involved. Though I knew I wanted to be involved in investing, I wasn't the 'ideal' target candidate coming out of university. Accordingly my short career has followed a reverse trajectory from a traditional path - I started at a family office as the only analyst helping manage a wealthy individuals money (we traded freight derivatives and were unfortunately caught in the whole MF Global bankruptcy thing), then worked in the risk management group at a large pension fund (highly not-recommended), and recently worked as a sell-side associate. My current goal is to find a home at a value-minded shop where I can learn and grow. Looking forward to connecting with some passionate investors!
