Summer Analyst vs. Intern... Help?
So... starting an internship tomorrow in the IBD of a large IB (not considered BB). I am a rising JUNIOR so i'm a year below the normal summer analyst, and this "program" I'm in is only me for about a month...
Long story short I cold emailed a MD at said bank and we hit it off and he sort of "created" this internship where I essentially am in training alongside the actual summer analyst class for the first half and then I spend the rest of my internship shadowing and assisting different level bankers across a specific coverage group.
Is this something I can/should list on my resume as IB SA, or do I keep it safe w/ "IB intern @ ..." IB SA looks great obviously but again I'm not fully in that program nor am I on that same level as the actual summer analyst class, albeit I will be interning with them for a portion of the summer.
just put summer analyst if you want to. everyone is expected to take some liberties with their resume to make it sound as good as possible. If your in a non-program internship you can basically give yourself whatever title you want, as long as you don't blatantly lie about your firm/division. If you are training and interning in the IBD at this bank there is no issue.
Investment Banking Summer Analyst vs. Investment Banking Intern (Originally Posted: 05/20/2016)
Fellow monkeys, I start my internship on Monday at a small boutique investment bank doing M&A in my town (and in NYC). This might seem like an absurd question, but should I list this position on my resume as "investment banking summer analyst" or "investment banking intern?" Typically I only see BB interns put IBSA, so I wasn't sure if it was fair game or what the etiquette was in terms of writing IBSA for an internship outside of BB/top boutiques SA stints. I could also try JUST "Summer Analyst," again my question being which would be BEST to list on a resume (esp. coming from a non-target)? What looks the best to future recruiters?
Go with summer analyst if you want, but I doubt anyone will care either way
Summer analyst just so it looks like a relevant title compared to your peers even though irrespective of where one spends the summer you're all interns
You should also include "investment banking" in the position title so that in the few seconds that someone is looking at your resume, he/she knows that the company is an IB firm.
Go with "investment banking summer analyst".
Scurti is it an American bank or EU bank just curious. Also how lucky are you to live in NYC :D
