Investment Sales -> REIT Development
Im currently an IS analyst at a major brokerage (think CB, JLL, Eastdil) in a major market. Recently I was hit up by a recruiter with an opportunity to be a development analyst at a major REIT who was looking at one of the deals we recently put on the market.
I'm just wondering if this is a good path to go down vs an acquisitions role in REPE (typical path for analysts who have been in my group). Ive always wanted to be in development, but with IS experience I feel that my skill set is now more applicable toward acquisitions. I haven't done any hardcore development modeling since college (graduated last year from a top UG school where the RE classes were cross-listed with a top ranked RE MBA/MSRE program).
What are the options after development?
Compwise he noted that the position will be around $85k all in with a light bonus. Has anyone negotiated a "catch up" bonus for money missed out on when switching firms? I feel like I'll be due for a lot this year if I stay in IS.
Sorry for the typos/sprawling thoughts; typing from my phone.
