Does that mean that I shouldn't waste time networking with people who went into banking and changed for smthg non finance related ?

I personally didn't bother reaching out to people outside banking, but I was fortunate to have a lot of potential contacts in banking that were from my undergrad school. Perhaps others can chime in on this.

Great post and congrats. If your previous internship had no brand value, what sorts of things did you emphasize in interviews to pique your interviewers' interest?

I knew my technicals inside out, which demonstrated that my internships had taught me something. I also had a very solid story regarding my sporting background which provided me with a great opportunity to show my personality off.

I also focussed on my extra-curricular societies like the Trading and Investment Club - this is an easy way to show teamwork skills.

In my experience, knowing technicals cold and being a likeable guy were the most important traits.
